10 Careers For Introverts

Finding a career that we love is an important step in our lives. If we don’t find a career we’re happy with, we might end up being stressed out or unsatisfied most of the time. As an introvert, you don’t like to spend too much time in direct contact with many people. You prefer creating your little circle of colleagues and have limited contact with them. Also, introverts prefer independent tasks or very small teams.

Luckily, there are career tips for introverts that we’re about to break down. Here’s a list of 10 careers you could pursue, that would be perfect for your introverted personality.

1.     Creative Writer or Editor

Pursuing a career in writing or editing might be a great idea for introverts. It’s a job that requires minimum communication with the outside world.

All you have to do is focus on your writing or editing skills.

Imagine if your workday looked like this:

  • you get to your office or open your laptop at home
  • you start working on your projects
  • you’re independent in every decision that you make
  • you send out your finished work by email

You did all the work by yourself, and if you do have some doubts, you can contact your client by email or phone.

Also, you get to express your creative side in a controlled, friendly environment.

2.     Social Media Manager

In the last couple of years, social media has been on a rise. Every small or big business and every influencer needs to invest their energy into having an active social media presence.

But, many of them soon realize this is time-consuming and they need a social media manager.

This is a perfect opportunity for you to work from home and earn a solid paycheck. The job implies:

  • creating and publishing interesting posts
  • responding to comments and messages
  • liking other people’s posts
  • connecting with the target audience

Your job might be to translate certain posts to multiple languages for different markets. For example, if you need Russian translation services you could check out Pick Writers.

You’d be working on your own, at your own pace, and without any colleagues to share the workspace with.

3.     Designer

You need to express your creative side if you have one. Still, as an introvert, you might feel uncomfortable putting it under the grand spotlight.

Luckily, there are careers in design that you could pursue and get the chance to enjoy using your creative skills.

Consider the following:

  • graphic designer
  • web designer
  • landscape designer
  • interior designer
  • fashion designer

You could do all the work from home and stay in the domain of self-employment. It’s a great opportunity for anyone creative and imaginative.

4.     Accounting Manager

If you’re good with numbers but not so good with people, you could think about a career in accounting.

An accounting manager usually works alone with their computer and:

  • analyzes data
  • does financial reports
  • provides accounting plans

Your job would imply minimum communication with the rest of the company. Still, there might be a small team of people working in accounting alongside you.

This is why this job is great for those introverts who like spending time with a limited group of people.

The best part about this job is, when you don’t feel like talking or hanging out, you can just say you have too much to do and turn to your computer.

5.     Animal Care

Animals are the perfect clientele for introverted people. More animals mean fewer people, and this noble job of animal care can bring you much more than a good earning.

So, you could consider one of the many professions that involve spending time with animals:

  • a veterinarian
  • animal shelter worker
  • animal trainer
  • pet shop employee

Any of the jobs that are closely related to animals will give the introverts a chance to enjoy their time at work and feel relaxed. The animals don’t need small talk or explanations.

They just need caring and empathy.

6.     Counselor

Introverts are great listeners. And, as much as they don’t like large groups of people and crowded spaces, they might like working with people one on one.

This is why a career as a counselor might be a perfect match.

Here’s why  introverts would be great therapists and counselors:

  • they mostly deal with patients one on one
  • they have great listening skills
  • they understand deep inner struggles
  • they’re able to analyze other people’s feelings

An introvert can help others deal with their problems. Plus, they would feel comfortable doing this job since it’s slow-paced and private.

7.     Botanist

Botany is a beautiful field of study that might be in the realm of interests. The study of plants, their growth, health, structure, and uses might be perfect for an introvert.

Here’s what makes it great for introverts:

  • you spend time outdoors
  • you connect with nature
  • you don’t have much contact with people
  • you research on your own or in small teams

There are numerous different carriers in botany that you could pursue. Any of them would fit your introverted personality.

You’d be able to feel relaxed and positive in your workplace.

8.     Anything Freelance

Self-employment is a great thing for introverts to experience and nurture.

Luckily, there are online freelance platforms that can help you find a job within hours. All you have to do is:

  • set up a profile
  • submit a portfolio
  • search for a job of your interests
  • apply

Working as a freelancer is great since you work from home, communicate electronically, and make your working conditions.

Anyone who’s an introvert would be happy to work under these conditions and earn money without having to worry about the surroundings.

9.     Photographer

Another profession that’s on top of interest list is photography.

Photography is a form of art that many people have been able to transform into a serious profession. You can consider different careers in photography and choose the one you feel most comfortable with:

  • photojournalist
  • studio photographer
  • wedding photographer
  • commercial photographer
  • stage photographer

It would be great to find a specific field you feel good about and work on becoming the best in that field.

You’d be able to do what you love working with your equipment and no one else to bother you.

10.  Caterer

Finally, if you enjoy preparing food and being around the kitchen, you can consider diving into the field of catering.

Caterers are in high demand and this career might bring you both the piece and the money you need.

This career is suitable for introverts because:

  • you spend the most time in the kitchen, preparing food
  • you communicate with one client at a time
  • once you reach a deal, all you have to do is prepare the food

On top of all, it’s creative and interesting so you won’t be bored working as a caterer.

Takeaway

You shouldn’t feel limited or scared to start a new career. Think about your interests, skills, and abilities, and find a career you’d feel great about.

The list above can give you ideas, guidance, or inspiration. Use it to explore your options and start your new career as soon as possible.
